I literally just signed for this package about one hour ago. Before I signed for it I gave the box a quick glance from side to side to make sure there wasn't any dents or holes.

Then I placed the package on the kitchen table and start opening one of the sides....dump out the first clump of packing peanuts....pull out a empty Victoria Secret plastic zip lock bag that was still zip lock sealed with bubble wrap inside but at the very bottom it appears to be sliced open....

then I carefully dump another clump of packing peanuts and at the very bottom is the card......unprotected and damaged.

After looking at the card for about thirty seconds then I take a look at the box again to try to figure out what happened and on the opposite side of the box I read this....

Right now I am still in disbelief, if the card wasn't damaged it looks like it would have graded at least BGS 9 or better. I really liked the Jordan autograph on this one too.

The seller is a nice guy and he responded to each email within a few hours when we were making the deal. Tonight I will contact him and send him the pictures to let him know.

I have never had this kind of extreme problem from FedEx international....any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was expecting the card to be gone, but at least the card arrived. Wow, you would think the National Guard would have bigger fish to fry than a Jordan auto...........oh, I understand now. It was wrapped in a Victoria's Secret package. Now I understand why they opened it...........

Trust me I am angry but I don't think the seller is at fault at all and neither am I.....something happened when the Venezuelan National Guard opened the box.

I will ask for a refund because it is obviously damaged and hopefully the seller put insurance on the package to file a FedEx claim.

what a bummer, sorry Nick. worst comes to worst I guess you can file a Paypal claim to get your $$ back although hopefully it doesn't come to that and the seller properly put insurance on it. if he didn't, he's going to be out a very expensive card unfortunately. I wonder what the heck the National Guard did to destroy the card like that. only thing I can think of is that the card was in a flimsy case in the bubble-wrap and the guys were very rough with it bending it around, before finally deciding to slit the bottom open...all speculation of course. if the card was in a 1touch or something of the sort, there is no excuse on their part for destroying the card like that.

good luck bro.

Wow, I am at a loss of words. Horrible that beautiful card has been destroyed.

I didn't even know there were any cards in Venezuela. I personally have never sent or received a package from over there.

Tough situation, Nick. Great card, that just lost a lot of value thanks to most likely the National Guard of Venezuela.

Would not really be fair to go after the seller, unless he made a mistake not packaging properly. On the other side,
there is about zero chance to hold the Venezuelans liable, even though they most likely are responsible.
FedEx is probably not too blame, but maybe you can work something out with them.
Anyway, good luck.

P.S.: Would you PN me please the orignal purchasing price for the UD3-AU, as i do collect all data regarding MJs 90s
available and will keep confidential.

Perhaps, Venezuelan National Guard opened the box due to the reason why the small card is shipped in a big box with so much bubble warping. And it is possible that they even rip the card intentionally just to see if there is any secret code inside of the card.

That is so horrible. Sorry about the damaged card. Hope everything works out for you - even though I know you would much rather have the card safely in your PC.

Wow, why would the sell wrap a card in bubble wrap in the first place?

It WILL bend no matter what. It has to be enclosed somehow, more so because of the high price of this card. If he did encase it the card would never have gotten damaged.

I hope you win the claim man

wow Nick that some terrible crap. maybe the national guard doesnt understand why a small piece of cardboard can be worth so much and thought there was something hidden inside. i hope you can get a refund and the seller can get insurance claim considering it was in fedex's possesion when damaged.

Guess it was too big a secret that the Nat. Guard had to take a peek ...

All jks. aside, that's just terrible. Just a real shame such a card was handled horribly. Hopefully the seller got insurance for it, GL with the case.

sad to see that...
Customs (or national guards in this case i guess?) goes to the depot/warehouse regularly to check on random packages...
and trust me, they wreck tons of stuff...
(I work at the warehouse of a different courier company but I would assumer they take similar procedure)
it's quite unlucky that the card happened to be slided to that corner when the guards cut it open...

but with that I'm pretty sure the buyer/seller can file a claim through fedex, hopefully you guys can work something out...

just really sad to see such a beautiful card getting destroyed Sad

Fidel Castro has been known to open packages heading to the U.S. and damaging its contents.

I know the national guard in Venezuela opened your package, but that's mainly on the seller. Why the hell was that card not in a penny sleeve and top loader or magnetic case or ANYTHING? Dumb!
The card probably would have been 100% fine through the national guard inspection if it had been protected sufficiently.

First off, that's just horrible man, my heart sank when I saw the card in the condition it was in. Secondly, for all the people who are saying "why didn't he put it in a protective case?" how do you know he didn't? the national guard could've disposed the case.

Never use fedex. Usps is the way to go. Did the seller ship it with no top loader?
